- Be sure to have a screwdriver, torpedo level, and a drill.
- Turn off the electricity feeding your current thermostat.
- Pull the cover off the existing thermostat.
- Unscrew thermostat from its wall mounted sub base.
- Loosen wires connected to the thermostats sub base.
- Remove the old sub base.
- Hold sub base of the new thermostat to the wall and connect the red wire to the "R" screw terminal, and the white wire to the "W" screw terminal.
- Drill the new screw mounting holes for the sub base.
- Push plastic wall anchors flush into holes and screw the sub base to the wall.
- Insert batteries as directed into the thermostat and snap the cover on.
- Turn the electricity that feeds the new thermostat back on.
- Program the desired on/off time and temperature of the thermostat.

Using a new programmable thermostat can save you hundreds of dollars during the cold winter months, and if you have central air, can save you the same in the summer!
