History of George W. Hays and Son Inc.

George W. Hays and Son Inc. was originally founded in 1893 in Clyde, KS as Hays-Howell by George Hays and James Howell. During their partnership, they opened another lumber yard in Morganville, KS. When they ended their partnership, Howell took the Morganville yard and Hays took the Clyde lumber yard. At this time, George Hays renamed the company George W. Hays and Son. Grandson William Ransopher eventually took over the business, and with his son Jack, acquired the lumber yard in Belleville in 1982. George W. Hays and Son is now operated by Jack Ransopher and collectively has 9 employees between the Belleville and Clyde locations, serving the greater North Central Kansas and South Central Nebraska areas.
